
Claudia Candelmo
Adjunct Professor in Law
Claudia Candelmo is Adjunct professor at the Vesalius College of the Brussels School of Governance and Teaching Fellow in EU Law at Durham University. She holds a PhD in International, Comparative and Public Law from Sapienza, University of Rome (2017). At Vesalius College, she co-teaches the Public International Law Course. Previously, she was Post-doctoral research fellow in European Union Law at LUISS University (2019-2022).
Her research interests mainly focus on issues of State responsibility in international law, the international regime concerning the use of force and international humanitarian law, especially the law governing non-international armed conflicts. She is currently working on a monograph on State responsibility for terrorist acts, where particular attention is devoted to issues of shared responsibility between States and non-state actors. Her research also covers the case law of the Court of Justice of the EU on manifest error of assessment.
