Arnaud Nuyts

Arnaud Nuyts is Adjunct Professor in International Affairs at the Brussels School of Governance. He is also a Partner in the International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Practice of premier internationally operating Belgian law firm Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick. An experienced lawyer who has practiced in the United States, England and Belgium, he focuses on multi-jurisdictional litigation and arbitration. He represents major corporations from civil law jurisdictions before US, English and Commonwealth courts, and US and English companies involved in litigation before the Belgian courts. He handles cross-border disputes and arbitration for e.g. the oil and gas as well as the film industry and media clients. He has also argued cases on international jurisdiction and human rights before the High Court and the Court of appeal in London. Arnaud holds a law degree and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Brussels (ULB) as well as a master of law (LL.M.) from the University of Cambridge. He has also studied at the Universities of Columbia, New York and at Harvard.

Prof. Nuyts teaches in the LLM in International and European Law (PILC) a course on private international law, covering issues on international contracts, the international law of electronic commerce and arbitration. Against the backdrop of Prof Nuyts’s wide practical experience, the course engages the students in a practically oriented excursion of these topics, making plentiful references to the cases he has himself been engaged in, in many different jurisdictions around the globe.
